Evangelical Meeting, Cadman's Neck, Cortez Allen's Grove. The evangelical revival meetings were popular in America in the 1870s. In 1873 the Union Sunday School Association was formed by members of various Westport churches. In 1878 the Association held its first four-day revival meeting at Cadman's Neck. The revival meeting was so enjoyed the Westport Camp Meeting Association was formed to plan future annual meetings. Those attending lived in tents; the prayer meetings were joyously loud. Revival meetings declined in the 1930s, and Cadman's Neck became a small summer colony.
