Reflections on Life at Westport Point

Westport Historical Society presents:

The Westport Historical Society will present
"Reflections on Life at Westport Point”
by Russell Hart and Richard Earle

Thursday, May 18th, 2006
7: 30 PM at the Bell Schoolhouse, 25 Drift Road
Head of Westport

Please join us for a conversation between two lifelong residents of
Westport, Russ Hart and Richie Earle. Both will vividly recall life at
Westport Point during the 1940’s and 1950’s and will entertain us
with stories of the families at the Point, the evolution of the wharves,
lobstering and the changing character of the community. There will also
be an opportunity to view a selection from the Historical Society’s
collection of postcards and photographs of Westport Point.

Russ Hart has served the town of Westport in many capacities as
selectman, as a member of Board of Assessors and as highway surveyor. He
also has an intimate knowledge of Westport Harbor after many years as a
lobsterman. Richie Earle, born and brought up in Westport, has also
spent his life close to the water as a commercial fisherman and
lobsterman. He has served as harbormaster for 19 years.

Admission is free, but donations will be gladly accepted. Refreshments
will be provided. Please call 508-636-6011 for reservations so that we
can plan accordingly.
