Volunteer Opportunities at the Westport Historical Society

We seek volunteers to help with an exciting project to preserve Westport's past. Our goals are to catalog each item in the collection of the Historical Society, to improve their storage conditions and to make the collection accessible through a public database. If you have an interest in the history of Westport and in preserving our heritage for all, please consider joining our team of volunteers. In return for a commitment of a few hours a week or each month, we hope that you will gain satisfaction from making a meaningful contribution to the community, learning new skills and using your own knowledge about the local area.
Tasks invovle identifying, researching, organizing, sorting and cataloguing books, photographs, postcards, clothing, archives, oral histories, scrapbooks, newsclippings, paintings, objects and maps. Guidance and training will be provided.
FOR MORE INFORMATION please contact Jenny O'Neill, Director (phone) 508 636 6011, (email) westhist@gis.net or drop by the Bell School on Mondays or Wednesdays between 9 AM and noon.
