Ralph Guild Day, Saturday August 25th
Join Westport Historical Society Saturday August 25th at 10.30am at Adamsville Pond for a special celebration of the restoration of the pond and recognition of the efforts of Ralph Guild in preserving this corner of Westport’s and Little Compton’s heritage. This event will include a formal presentation of awards honoring Ralph Guild by Westport Historical Society and Westport River Watershed Alliance. It will also provide an opportunity for the local community in both Westport and Little Compton to thank Ralph Guild in person, and to watch as the water being released into the Pond. Sample Johnny Cakes prepared from Gray’s meal, cider by Brian Medieros of Dartmouth Orchards, soft drinks provided by Lees Market and enjoy music by Charlie Cann and the Bear Swamp Admirals.
Ralph Guild has been instrumental in the restoration of Gray’s Grist Mill, one of the oldest continuously operating mills and many other projects preserving local history, including most recently the Longfield House east of Adamsville Pond. Gray’s Grist Mill and store will be open during the event. Reservations are not necessary. The event will take place at the newly restored Longfield House just east of the Pond.
