Gun Making in the Westport Area 1620-1920
On Thursday evening July 14 at 7:00 P. M. Nicholas Niles and James Nelson will present a program: "Gun Making in the Westport Area 1620-1920." The program will be held at the Bell School, headquarters of the Westport Historical Society, located at 25 Drift Rd., Head of Westport. Please let the Society know if you are planning to attend - 508-636-6011. There is no charge for admission, but donations are always welcome.
Nick and Jim have presented this popular "show and tell" evening for three years, and are doing a repeat - with the addition of some information on gun making by nearby Rhode Island and Massachusetts operations. They will talk about iron and steel works, the early American industrial revolution, and anything in these fields that interests the audience.
They ask that those interested bring guns and accoutrements from the period for inspection and as subjects for discussion. They hope that those in attendance will bring questions and any information they may have related to guns and the topic at large.
